2012 TENNIS EVENTS

TOURNAMENTS

All tournaments will be self-scheduling with a finals weekend (and rain date) in September. A ten game pro-set format with no-ad scoring will be used in the initial rounds (first to ten games, win by two). The semis and finals matches will be played using the customary two out of three set format with a twelve point tie breaker to be played at 6-6.  However, if the size of the draw is markedly larger or smaller than anticipated, the Tournament Committee will make the final decision about format. The draws and formats for each tournament will be posted in the Clubhouse and emailed prior to the start of the tournaments.

Sign up sheets will be posted at the Club one month before the tournaments commence. The cost for each player is $25.00 ($50.00 per team for doubles) which will include light breakfast, lunch, and prizes for winners. Entrants should submit their e-mail addresses and cell phone numbers when signing up. All entrants will be charged the full entry fee regardless of cancellations or injuries unless the entrant has cancelled at least five days before the start of the tournament.

The dates for each round of the tournaments will be posted at the Clubhouse and sent by email, and will vary according to the number of entrants. A monitor will be assigned to each tournament, and reminder calls and/or emails will be sent. However, if matches are not played on time, a coin toss will be used to determine which player/team advances to the next round. Depending on the size of each draw, there will be a consolation round for each tournament in an attempt to provide at least two matches for each player or team.

Tournament match times may be booked in advance of the four-day signup restriction. Doubles matches may be booked for two hours and may be booked in Prime Time. Singles matches using the ten game pro set format should be booked for one hour; singles matches playing two out of three sets may book for two hours but with only one hour booked in Prime Time. Please note that booking a tournament match in Prime Time counts toward the week’s maximum number of hours played in Prime Time.

Club members are required to give 24-hr cancellation notice prior to a scheduled lesson or they will be charged for the cost of the lesson.

Private, semi-private and group lessons will be offered to adult and junior members as well as non-members. All lessons are conducted in 55 minute sessions. Adult group lessons (3-6 people) are for 1 hour of instruction combined with 1 hour of play with no instruction. Group lessons are arranged by ability level and require signing-up ahead of time. Lesson rates vary with pros and will be posted at the club.

Organized Play

The club will be offering women’s and men’s doubles night throughout the season. Please contact Johanne if you are interested in participating in these two events. In addition, there will be weekly special activities such as Mix and Match as well as doubles group lessons. You can view the weekly tennis activity schedule on the club’s web site at cambridgetennisclub.com and on the bulletin board at the club. Please take the time to sign-up ahead of time for activities. It helps us plan court reservations more efficiently and leaves more courts open for

members. For any questions regarding tennis activities or tennis lessons please e-mail or call Johanne Gauthier at: johanne.gauthier@live.com or call (617) 710-9465.
