Tennis Club News

July 19, 2001

Court conditions: Delicious.

Round Robin: The next round robin, another catered affair, is scheduled for Tuesday, July 24. Tennis starts at 6:00.

Tournaments: The club's tournaments are raging. (Please try to get those early rounds in: the defaulting hammer is crashing down.)

Arranged Pair doubles tournament The draw for the arranged pair doubles tournament has just been posted on the porch bulletin board. We'll try to get it online soon. The first round should be played by August 5.
Note: Summer members are encouraged to enter this tournament.

Many, many thanks to Kathy Komputerheroine, we have the tournament draws on-line. They are mostly up-to-date. You might help us keep the draws up to date by notifying the webmaster (see way below) of match results. (We won't post scores, just results.)

Member-Guest Round Robins: The member-guest round robin scheduled for Saturday, July 21, has been cancelled.

There is a youth member-guest round robin scheduled for Saturday, July 28, from 4:00 to 6:30. The sign-up sheet is on the porch bulletin board.

Summer Membership: Summer membership began on July 1. Welcome to the club. Welcome to the season. You might chat with the staff person on duty about scheduling courts and making out chits and other mechanics. You might also consider coming to Sunday pick-up doubles and week-day round robins to meet players.

Junior Membership began on July 1. Welcome to the club. Welcome to the season. See above.

Busyness: Usually the club is less busy after the Fourth, but not this year. No, siree. We're packed. The courts are pretty much booked all morning and again from 4:00 to 10:00. Call early for prime time courts. And, please note, summer members cannot reserve at prime time so it's not summer members filling up the courts. We're just having a tennis jamboree.

Help Wanted: As always, contributions to the news page are quite welcome. We are partial to humor, but we'll consider gripes, wails, rants, and effusions.

Reservations Note: While the CTC website has the capacity to handle on-line reservations, the efficacy of deploying the system is still being debated by the tennis club Board. So, if you click on Reservation Requests, you can see the system, but it is not active. Stay posted.

Take a look at what was going on at the club at this time last year.

Website Note II: The honey-comb icon is also a link. It takes the clicker to an archive of all the past news pages so that you can read the news pages for the whole year (2001). The less-than link (<) next to the honeycomb icon will take you to yesterday's News.
