Tennis Club News

July 29, 2001

It takes two: Tango Night is tonight. At the clubhouse.

Tournaments

Many, many thanks to Kathy Komputerheroine, we have the tournament draws on-line. They are mostly up-to-date. You might help us keep the draws up to date by notifying Kathy of match results. (We won't post scores, just results.)

Round Robin: The next round robin, a pizza night, is scheduled for Wednesday, August 6. Tennis starts at 6:00.

Nothing to do with tennis: Here's a snippet from the July 2 issue (we're behind) of the New Yorker:

"Summertime. The living may be easy, but the driving is hard. During the last ten years, traffic volume in the United States has increased by fifteen per cent. No one counts on getting anywhere in a hurry anymoe, and transportation science seems to be at a loss to invent methods for eliminating bottlenecks and relieving congestion....Drivers are now accustomed to the phenomenon of the phantom accident: three lanes of tightly packed cars inch forward for miles, and then, suddenly, everyone is going sixty again, with no visibel sign of what caused the delay. They are experiencing the 'memory' of an ancient fender bender."

Help: As always, we welcome contributions to the news.

Reservations Note: While the CTC website has the capacity to handle on-line reservations, the efficacy of deploying the system is still being debated by the tennis club Board. So, if you click on Reservation Requests, you can see the system, but it is not active. Stay posted.

Take a look at what was going on at the club at this time last year.

A minor note: The webmaster is on vacation. The newspage has been written in advance, using a marvelous feature of the website's software. If there is anything triple urgent, you might contact the website's father, Bob Doyle.

Website Note II: The honey-comb icon is also a link. It takes the clicker to an archive of all the past news pages so that you can read the news pages for the whole year (2001). The less-than link (<) next to the honeycomb icon will take you togeteterday's News.
