Lucy Fowler:
Lucy Fowler is the club's Clerk and Bookkeeper. She's been with the club for fifteen seasons. She's worked with eight club Presidents, and many Treasurers. She handles all our bills. She made a mistake in billing once, back in, let's see, 1991, and she's never forgiven herself. She remembers that mistake very well, and she remembers many more details on rental contracts and memberships and summer memberships and chits and checks and deposits and data. She is a great source of the Club's Institutional Memory.
If, over the years, you've noticed the Club's nifty signs, signs announcing upcoming events, you've noticed some more of Lucy's work: she is a very skilled professional calligrapher. She creates awards and certificates and diplomas for schools and organizations. Her work is careful, like her accounting, and shows considerable artistry.
Lucy might also describe herself as an Italophile: she visits Italy often, and speaks and reads Italian. She reads serious contemporary American fiction, too. She'll chat about books with you, Italian, American, or Accounting.
The club is lucky to have her around.
| These holiday tennis parties are a blast. Always. (If you missed the party on the Fourth, you really missed a good one. Fun on the courts and off.) The Labor Day party is set for Monday, September 3, and the courts are open for pick-up doubles all day. As usual the club supplies drinks and barbecue basics and, with some luck, a turkey. There is a potluck part to the party. If your name begins with letters A - G, you might bring some desserts; if H - O, some salads; if P - Z some fruit or fruit juice. But do come. The party will be the best show in town. |
Round Robin: The next round robin, a catered affair, is scheduled for Wednesday, September 5. (There was some confusion about the date, but September 5 is indeed the date, and sure enough, it's a Wednesday.) Tennis starts at 6:00.

Many, many thanks to Kathy Komputerheroine, we have the tournament draws on-line. And the format has been made smaller and a bit easier to read. They are mostly up-to-date. You might help us keep the draws up to date by notifying Kathy of match results. (We won't post scores, just results.)
