Quotes from members:
-The great thing about this time of year? The courts are good and I can get one any time; nobody else plays.
(That's true.)
-This (last) weekend is the end of the season.
(That's false: we don't close until mid-November although the Closing Party is scheduled for October 28.)
-Where is everybody?

Solicitations: We're always glad to hear from our readers.

Here's another remarkably detailed pencil drawing, a pencil drawing! of The Mick done by Ken Turnbull. We apologize for the loss of detail, Ken, and we thank you for sending the drawing along. (The image size and resolution have to be reduced, or the page will take forever to load for anyone with a slow connection.) (We also want to note that Red Sox fans of a 'certain age' had their childhoods ruined by the Mick and his cohorts and we are showing considerable maturity in putting up this wonderful iconic image.)

Tournaments

The final match of the Mixed Doubles Tournament was played last night. Jessie Von Hippel and Alexi Joannidis defeated Maeve Ercolani and Ken Turnbull in three sets. Reports are coming in describing how tough the match was. Jessie and Alexi prevailed in a very competitive field. Congratulations, Jessie and Alexi.

Thanks to folks who have kindly called or e'd results.

Reservations Note: While the CTC website has the capacity to handle on-line reservations, the efficacy of deploying the system is still being debated by the tennis club Board. So, if you click on Reservation Requests, you can see the system, but it is not active.
