The next Round Robin will take place on June 5. Tennis starts at 6:00. The meal will be catered. (The event is fully subscribed, but there is a waiting list.) Also, please note that for catered round robins, the meal is ordered in advance and subscribers are billed unless cancelled by 6:00 p.m. the night before. The meal is served whether tennis is rained out or not. If, by any chance, tennis is rained out, come eat, drink, and socialize.

June is High Season here at the CTC. June is usually the busiest month of the year. People play a lot. Weekends are booked from, say, 8:00 to closing, every court, every hour. Weekdays - it's tough to get a court at prime time. Folks call promptly at 8:00 a.m. and deploy trick phone features, like continuous automatic re-dial.

The Tournament sign-up has been extended to June 10. Please sign up.

The tournament schedule has been re-jiggered: The Finals of:

scheduled for Saturday, September 7, have been moved to Saturday, September 14.

Finals of:

scheduled for Sunday, September 8, have been moved to Sunday, September 15.

The times for the matches remain the same, and the rain dates, September 21, and 22 remain the same.

Eric Herz, who was a member of the club for many years, died on May 25.
The Boston Globe's obituary tells us that he escaped Nazi Germany in 1939, emigrating to Israel and studying flute at the Jerusalem Conservatory. He served in the English Army in Cairo, and later became a member of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1951, he went to Canada and then came to Boston and Cambridge where he co-founded the "Boston School" of harpsichord making. He was a renowned harpsichord maker and a master craftsman, producing almost 500 instruments before he retired in 1996. He also served as president of the Boston Early Music Festival.
We remember Eric's tennis play here at the club. He was a regular at Sunday pick-up doubles back in the days when it was a major event on two courts. Eric played almost every Sunday, for years.
A memorial service will be held in the Fall.

The CTC Women's Team played last Thursday against the Winchester Team. CTC won 2 out of the 4 matches. CTC women have won 12 out of 20 matches this year, and a team member reports that this year's team has great spirit, great camaraderie. The team plays its last home match on June 6, at 9:00.
Go team.

Rick Rose's Doubles Clinics have started, and will continue for a while on Mondays and Wednesdays, pending the ending of the women's team season, and pending input from attendees and potential attendees.

He's accepting feedback.

The clinics run from 10:00 to 11:30 and cost $14.00. And they are very popular. Check them out.
