When will the courts open?
Maybe the beginning or middle of the week after next?

Whaaaa....Why so late?
The court prep work has been long and drawn out and interrrupted by frequent floods. It's been grueling and exasperating. The crew is plugging a-way and hoping for some continuous good weather.

The clay is applied in 3 coats. 2 are down. A final, tweaking coat remains to be laid on some of the courts. A few spots have to be filled in.The baselines of some courts are so worn down that, to level them, almost an inch of clay has to be laid. An inch. The clay has to be brushed and, usually, but not this year, watered, and rolled and brushed and rolled, worked in. The inch of clay has to 'become court.' When we're flooded, the process is delayed considerably. Once the clay is court, rain can pour all day and the courts will open an hour later. But not now. Right now rain kills us.

Eyes on the sky.Right now, keep your eyes on the sky. There is no ball.

Filling in and 'Tweaking'

Ken Turnbull kindly sent us one of his wonderful pencil drawings of a player, playing. Ken claims that the woman in the picture will be his mixed doubles partner this year.

The CTC book is not yet available.

But the website's information is current. The 'Activities' page (round robins, tournaments, etc) has been updated, i.e., the schedule of events for 2003 can be found on the website. Also, the waiting list for membership, as well as a list of new members has been updated. That information can be found through the 'FAQ' page. The 'Governors and Committees' page, and the 'Rules' page have also been updated.

'Members', and' Reservation Requests' are not active parts of the site nowadays. 'Timelines' is for adepts.

We thank our on-line proofreaders and contributors to the effort to update the website, most especially Lucy Fowler whose help is, as always, much appreciated.

Take a look

at what was happening at the club at this time last year. (We were open.)

Here's the saga of last year's tournaments:

Here's a link to the espn site, with pro ranking.

The Yearbook link will take you to the last newspage from 2002. From there you can see the whole of the Persistant Archive of last year's news.

Website Note: The time and temperature icon below is a link to a Boston weather site.

Website Note II: The honey-comb icon is also a link. It takes the clicker to an archive of all the past news pages so that you can read the news pages for the whole year (2001). The less-than link (<) next to the honeycomb icon will take you to the last issue of the newspage.

The letters below will waft the clicker to a translation program, so that you can see these deathless words translated to wonderfully unidiomatic French, Italian, etc. (You can use this program to translate web-pages other than the newspage.)
