The club is hosting a party to welcome New Members on Sunday, May 2, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (A list of this year's new members can be found on the website in the FAQ page.) Please come and enjoy yourselves and meet our new members.

We have the President's Spring Letter 2004.

Lots of folks have visited the club lately. They say, either,

What the...? What's the hold-up?

Or....

This looks hopeless. How did you ever get all that water out? And the mud! How can you possibly....?

We think that BIG progress was made last week:

Take a look:

4-19-04
On the courts.

4-22-04 Spreading clay, court 4. (Billy is putting in a sprinkler head.)

4-22-04
Rocky grabs another bag for court 4. (Note mud pile to the right of the tarped piles of clay.)

But...

4-23-04

Which news do you want first? The good news or the bad? The bad news is that, after pumping water out 3 times, the crew discovered more mud than we've had in many a year, maybe a world record amount. Mud is bad news.

The Good news is that the crew is finally working on the courts. The really, really good news is that the crew is one of the best we've had in years, troupers all. They chant:

"Oh, we're mudding no more
In 2004."

Sure, sure, but when do we open? The rule of thumb is 3 to 4 weeks after work has begun. Let's say the crew has put in one week of work as of 4-23....

Membership information: As noted, the list of new members can be found on the FAQ section. A new waiting list is not yet available.

Take a look

at what was happening at this time last year. (Almost the same place we are in this year. Last year we opened on May 15. The year before we opened on April 21.)

We are leaving the tournament draws up. And again we'll offer our thanks to our Anonymous Friend, the Java Kid, for posting them and keeping them up to date.

Tournaments

And here's the saga of last year's tournaments (so's we can compare and contrast):

And the saga of the year before (we're mighty fancy here, and mighty grateful to the Java Kid for doing all this work):

Phew.

Here's a link to the espn site, with pro ranking.

And a club member (let's call him Sol) suggests a link to the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, R.I. The site is rich.

The information in the CTC book may also be found here on the website. The information is current. The waiting list for membership, as well as a list of new members is up to date. That information can be found through the 'FAQ' page. The 'Governors and Committees' page, and the 'Rules' page are also up to date.

'Members', and' Reservation Requests' are not active parts of the site nowadays. 'Timelines' is for adepts.

The Yearbook link will take you to the last newspage from 2003. From there you can see the whole of the Persistant Archive of last year's news.

Website Note: The time and temperature icon below is a link to a Boston weather site.

Joe DeBassio, Webmaster,

Website Note II: The honey-comb icon is also a link. It takes the clicker to an archive of all the past news pages so that you can read the news pages for the whole year (2001). The less-than link (<) next to the honeycomb icon will take you to the last issue of the newspage.
