Lessons

The club offers lessons to club members and non-members. For private or group lessons, contact one of the CTC pros directly:

Group lessons of 3-6 players are available in 60 minute or 90 minute programs depending on interest. Group lessons are arranged by ability level and require signing up ahead of time. Lesson rates vary and can be confirmed by contacting the Pros directly. 

If you need to cancel:  Club members are required to give 24-hour cancellation notice prior to a scheduled lesson or they will be charged for the cost of the lesson. 

Tennis lessons may be offered to non-members upon payment of the appropriate guest fee (Non-prime adult $15 or Junior $10) per lesson.

Lou Yanucci


Lou Yanucci

Lou graduated from Boston College with a BS in Management. He also holds an MBA from Suffolk University. As a racquet/fitness club management professional, Lou has successful experience in directing and supervising all aspects of club operations including membership sales, maintenance, budget responsibilities, social functions and marketing.

He also has extensive involvement in developing tennis programming within the adult, junior and team formats including expertise in technical theory, conducting lessons/clinics and organizing tournaments. He has held GM positions at Weston Racquet Club, Flextime Tennis LLC, Orangetheory Fitness and Wellbridge Athletic Club.

Lou’s tennis background includes working at Sergio Tacchini, NA as the National Director of Marketing for the footwear division as well as seven years as a teaching pro. Lou has had numerous USTA/New England rankings in Mens’s Singles in various age groups including four in the top ten.

Lou is a huge fan of the Red Sox and Bruins and enjoys music, art and photography.

Rick Rose


Rich has been teaching at Cambridge Tennis Club for over 25 years. He runs adult, junior and pee wee group clinics as well as private and semi-private lessons.

Rick has headed the City of Cambridge Recreation Department Tennis League every summer for some 25 years. He got to see one of his students advance to playing #1 Singles and #1 Doubles in a Division I college this year. Rick started coaching this student at age 4 through the Cambridge Recreation League and continued coaching him as a CTC Junior member.

In the off-season Rick plays senior doubles in the Palm Beach County Grand Slam Tennis League. He and his team won the Premier Division in 2014!

Doug Eng


Doug has taught tennis for over 30 years and coached college tennis for more than 20 years. He is a PTR International Master Professional and a USPTA Master Professional, one of 11 worldwide to hold both honors. Doug is a PTR Master of Tennis Performance and a USTA High Performance Coach having worked with over 300 ranked players, has coached several All-Americans, an NCAA Singles Championship, a 2-time national high school finalist, and the youngest Davis Cup player in history. He was divisional President of both major US teaching organizations: PTR New England, USPTA New England and has also trained or certified over 2,000 coaches for PTR, USPTA, and USTA. Doug was an 8-year member of the USTA National Sport Science Committee and received the Doc Counsilman Award from the US Olympic Committee in 2012. He is an expert on tennis/sport training with a doctorate in sport psychology/pedagogy, CSCS-NSCA, CES-NASM and Master of Tennis Performance (MTPS from the International Tennis Performance Association) with over 100 published articles.

Doug also teaches tennis at MIT and BAC in the indoor season. He teaches sport management and sport psychology at Lesley University. Besides tennis, he has coached squash for 20 years, is a PADI scuba divemaster loves movies and spicy foods.

Steve Counihan


Steve Counihan was born and raised in Cambridge and he goes back a long way with the CTC. He taught here from 1990 to 1998, and at Braeburn Country Club from 1999 to 2007. He's taught tennis for "about 35 years.

Steve was the resident pro at the Park Hotel Holzner in Sopra-Bolzano, Italy for 9 years and can offer CTC member tennis lessons in Italian and German.

Priyanka Shah


Priyanka (goes by "Pri") graduated from Cornell University in 2018. As a member of the tennis team, she played #1 singles and doubles her senior year. She also served as a captain for two years. During her time at Cornell, she received awards such as MVP, Iron Women Award, and ITA Northeast Most Improved Player. She was part of the first team in Cornell's history to win the Ivy League Championship.

She went on to play on tour for 7-months, where she achieved a world ranking and competed alongside the top 500 girls in the world. Pri enjoys outdoor activities and cooking with family and friends. She was born in New Jersey, grew up in Florida, and is new to Boston!

Mia Wallace


Mia currently plays tennis for Boston University after previously playing for Elon University in North Carolina. Before college, she competed for Arlington High School and was a two-time All-Scholastic selection (Boston Globe and Boston Herald), winner of the North State Individual Singles title, and was a Massachusetts Singles State finalist as a senior in 2017. She completed her senior year with an undefeated high school season and was named the Boston Globe Player of the Year for her efforts.

A two-time Middlesex League MVP and All-Star. She frequently played USTA tournaments as a junior player, with one of her biggest wins as the champion of the New England Clay Court Championships. She previously taught at Manchester Athletic Club in Manchester MA.
